Someone once said that it is definitely hard to leave a place for which you know that you will never be back again and this quote goes right for Thamel. It is situated in Kathmandu, Nepal. This place has remained the center of tourism for four decades. Story of tourism for this place originates from the hippie days when tourists were accustomed to staying in Thamel for many days. Till this day, you can rate Thamel as the hottest tourism spot. There are many shops and vendors. The most commonly sold goods include fresh fruits, vegetables, music, DVDs and clothes. Furthermore, you can find grocery stores, restaurants, and clubs, etc. Restaurants normally serve traditional and continental food.
Thamel also serves as the base camp for many mountaineers. You would find gear shops, exchange booths, and guest houses. Nightlife is just amazing and enjoyable here as live music and other attractions continuously entertain the tourists. In 2011, the market was declared a full WiFi zone. Some other wonderful places to see near Thamel are JP Road, Sanchaya Kosh Road, and Kwabahal.
