Ganesh Himal is located in north-central Nepal at an approximate distance of 70 km from the northwest Kathmandu and it is a subrange of the Himalayas. It is separated from Langtang Himal on the eastern side by the Trisuli Gandak valley. Shear Khola and Budhi Gandak valley are located on the western side. These beautiful valleys detach it from the Sringi and Mansiri Himal.
Ganesh Himal features massive vertical relief over adjacent valleys, specifically Ganesh NW. Name of this peak is derived from the Hindu Deity named Ganesha. It is generally shown in the shape of an elephant. And factually, the southern face of Ganesh IV is alike Elephant. Elevation & name of these ranges varies from place to place. Overall there are four peaks called Ganesh I (Main/N.E/), Ganesh II (N.W), Ganesh III (S.E), Ganesh IV (S.W). Ganesh I is highest relative to the other three. Ganesh Himal was first ascended in 1955 and since that time it is being climbed over by the foreign and local hikers. Guides are available to let you know the details and suitable time as well as direction to surpass the peak.
