Ba Dinh Square has huge historical importance due to the nature of events associated with this place. It is located in Hanoi and regarded as famous because in 1945 the President Ho Chi Minh read the Proclamation of Independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam from the pulpit of this famous building. French and U.S declarations of independence were quoted by the president like the right to life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness and equality. Representatives from all segments of society cheered the declaration and vowed to bring unity, peace, and progress in the newly independent state. A funeral of Ho Chi Minh was also held here right after 24 years of declaration. It was then decided by the government of Vietnamese that to remember their greatest hero, a mausoleum should be constructed.
The Ba Dinh Square was basically designed and developed by the French Colonists and it is regarded as Round Point Pugininer. According to historical accounts, the name of Ba Dinh Square has genesis in the French rebellion which ensued in Vietnam from 1886 to 1887. Overall the rebellion is called Ba Dinh Uprising which was generally part of the Can Vuong movement.
Tourists and pilgrimage from across the world and Vietnam also come to visit and learn the historical significance of the square. A vivid description of how the Vietnamese respect their heroes are on full display at this mausoleum. Ba Dinh Square is in the center of Ba Dinh District Square which makes access to the historical tourist place easy and economical.
As of today, Ba Dinh represents the few greens and unoccupied areas of urban Hanoi. Many important events and parades occur at the square. The place becomes crowded in the night as elders came in order to exercise, families to walk and the friends gather for a hangout. Many other important buildings in premises where the important decisions related to the fate of Vietnamese are taken include Palace of President, Ministry of Planning and Investment, National Assembly Building and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
