The Guga S’Thebe Cultural Centre is a public space where communities can come together and enjoy art, design and performance. The centre has six active and tenanted studio spaces, a gathering space, an amphitheatre, an arts and craft shop and a multipurpose theatre. When visiting the crafter studios you can browse their collections of locally sewn products, pottery, beading, and mosaic works. You can also enjoy drumming performances.

Visit Langa Sportsfield

Step inside a grim apartheid relic at Langa's old pass office, where black people had to present their identity cards, and the attached court, where they were trialed for breaking the pass laws. There's a great collection of photographs and documentary evidence showing what life was like in Cape Town's oldest township during that era

Visit Langa Beer Hall

During the apartheid era visitors or gatherings were allowed in Langa without the Superintendent’s permission. The brewing of sorghum beer (utshwala) which was integral to local African culture was prohibited. This was resented by residents, who also rejected the idea of municipal beer halls. They refused to be controlled by being forbidden to drink beer in line with traditional custom. Despite the prohibition of beer brewing there was a sharp rise in illicit brewing and after many police raids total prohibition was lifted in 1930. Municipal beer halls were built in 1945.

Lunch at Iziko Restaurant for African Cuisine

Eziko African Restaurant & Culinary School is an 80 seater facility offering home cooked traditional African food as well as Western cuisine. It s located in the heart of Langa Township, was established in 1996 by a former Langa High School teacher, Victor Mguqulwa – a one of a kind leader. His mission is to address the unemployment that strikes the township communities which is not fully solved by formal education.
