Highlights
Description
Day 1:NAIROBI-MASAI MARA-285Km/ 5-6 hrs
The endless plains of East Africa are the setting of the World’s greatest spectacle-the pounding of over 6 million hooves! From the vast Serengeti plains to the Champagne coloured hills of Kenya’s Masai Mara.
Over 1 million wildebeest, 300,000 Thompson gazelles and some 200,000 zebras relentlessly tracked by Africa’s greatest predators, migrate in a clockwise fashion over 1,800 miles each year in search of green pastures (July-October to Kenya & December to March to Tanzania’s Serengeti)
00800hrs, we depart from Nairobi, driving down the escarpment via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley. We will make a brief stop at the Great Rift Valley View Point before we proceed to Masai Mara. Lunch will be served at Narok or at the camp in Masai Mara, followed by an early evening game drive from 1630hours onwards.
Return in the evening for dinner and overnight at the Camp or Lodge.
Day 2: MASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
Full day game drive with picnic lunches; explore the reserves’ amazingly high concentration of game. This game reserve is Kenya’s finest wildlife sanctuary.
Wherever you go in the vast Masai Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos are also found in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but reasonably common. The ultimate action here is without doubt the annual wildebeest exodus, the Great Migration, in July and August when millions of these grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of greener pasture before returning south in October to December. There is nothing thrilling like a bush dinner to end such an adventurous day at an extra cost.
Dinner and overnight at the Tented Camp or Lodge- Meal Plan (Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)
