Itinerary
Day 1: Nairobi Airport to Tsavo West National Park
Pick up from the airport hotel and drive southeast to Tsavo West National Park, a rugged wilderness of volcanic hills, lava flows, springs, and wide savannah. Arrive a Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge in good time for lunch. Late afternoon game drive where you may spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffalo, impalas, and, with luck, big cats such as lions and leopards. Tsavo West is also known for its dramatic scenery, so this first day combines wildlife viewing with some of Kenya’s most iconic landscapes.
Dinner and overnight at Kilanguni Serena Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Tsavo West to Amboseli National Park
After an early breakfast, drive to Mzima Springs, one of Tsavo West’s top natural attractions. The springs are famous for clear water, hippos, crocodiles, fish, and birdlife, and they often provide a refreshing contrast to the dry savannah elsewhere in the park; the wider Tsavo West ecosystem can also hold lions and leopards.
Continue with a game drive as you head toward Amboseli National Park, where the scenery opens up dramatically and wildlife viewing becomes very rewarding. Amboseli is especially famous for its large elephant herds, open plains, swamp areas, and unforgettable views of Mount Kilimanjaro when the weather is clear. Lunch, afternoon game drive, dinner, and overnight at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Amboseli to Tsavo East National Park
Enjoy an early breakfast and depart for Tsavo East with game viewing en route. This park is known for its broad, open landscapes, which make it easier to spot large herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and predators moving across the plains. It is one of the best places on the route to feel the scale of the Kenyan wilderness.
Have lunch at Patterson Safari Camp, then continue with an afternoon drive before checking in at Voi Safari Lodge. Depending on timing and wildlife movement, you may also spot birds of prey, ostriches, and other classic savannah species around water sources and riverine corridors.
Day 4: Tsavo East to Shimba Hills
After breakfast, drive toward the coast and into the greener, more tropical setting of Shimba Hills. This is a different safari environment from the dry savannah parks, so the day is ideal for appreciating Kenya’s habitat diversity, from coastal forest to rolling hills and thicket.
In the afternoon, enjoy a game drive and keep an eye out for sable antelope, bushbuck, giraffes, elephants, monkeys, and a wide range of birdlife. The area is also known for scenic forest trails and the possibility of visiting waterfalls, making it one of the most refreshing stops on the itinerary. Dinner and overnight at Shimba Rainforest Lodge.
Day 5: Shimba Hills to Diani Beach
After breakfast and a morning game drive, drive to Diani and check in at The Sands at Nomad Beach Hotel. This is the transition from safari to coast, so the focus shifts from game viewing to marine and beach experiences, but you may still enjoy coastal forest scenery along the way. The property is set on Diani Beach and offers access to relaxing and water-based activities.
Day 6: Indian Ocean Boat Excursion
Spend the day exploring the Indian Ocean by boat. Depending on the arrangement, this can include dolphin spotting, snorkelling, reef viewing, or simply enjoying the open water and coastal scenery. Dinner and overnight at The Sands at Nomad.
Day 7: Beach Relaxation and Activities
Enjoy another day at leisure on the beach. Guests can relax by the sea, enjoy optional water sports, stroll along Diani’s white sand beach, or simply unwind after the safari section of the trip. This is a good recovery day before the final cultural stop in Mombasa.
Day 8: Diani to Mombasa
After breakfast, drive to Mombasa town and visit Fort Jesus, one of the city’s most important historical landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While this is not a wildlife stop, it adds cultural balance to the itinerary and gives guests a chance to experience Kenya’s coastal history before returning inland.
Continue to Bamburi Beach Hotel for dinner and overnight. The hotel is located in Mombasa and offers beachfront access, making it a convenient final coastal stay.
Day 9: Mombasa to Nairobi
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi where the tour ends.ead the tour description.
