Discover Machu Picchu with our transportation service. Departure is at 6:00 a.m. directly from your hotel, we will travel in a comfortable minibus. During the trip, we will make a stop in Ollantaytambo for breakfast or to use the restrooms (not included), before continuing our route to Hidroeléctrica. In Hidroeléctrica, you will have the choice between a 3-hour scenic hike or a train ride to Aguas Calientes.
The next day, immerse yourself in the wonders of Machu Picchu. To get there, you can choose between an exciting 2-hour hike from Aguas Calientes or a comfortable bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the entrance of the archaeological site.
What's included
Itinerary
We will pick you up at your hotel/location at 6:00 a.m. to start the journey in a minibus. The first stop will be Ollantaytambo, where you will have about 20 minutes for a restroom break or to stretch your legs.
Abra Málaga Pass - Santa Maria - Santa Teresa
The route will continue until reaching Abra Málaga Pass, the highest point at 4,316 meters. From there, we will descend to Santa María, and then have another stop of about 30 minutes for lunch. Afterward, you will board the minibus again and head to Hidroeléctrica.
Hidroeléctrica
You will arrive by minibus at Hidroeléctrica. At this point, the road ends, and it's not possible to continue by bus. You will have two options to reach Aguas Calientes:
Continue on foot along the route that follows the train tracks with your guide. The route goes through a valley and takes approximately two and a half hours.
Take the train (Inca Rail in the Expedition class) that connects Hidroeléctrica with Aguas Calientes in a 30-minute journey.
Aguas Calientes
On the second day of the tour, you will wake up early to enjoy the visit to Machu Picchu.
You can choose between walking from Aguas Calientes to the citadel in a two-hour journey or taking the bus, which covers the same route in 30 minutes uphill.
If you choose to take the bus, you will need to add the extra Bus Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu (round trip) to your reservation for $24 USD.
Machu Picchu
Once in Machu Picchu, you will have a guided tour of 2 hours to discover the fascinating history of the site. Afterward, you will have free time until approximately 11:00 AM to explore the citadel on your own.
Return to Cuzco
After the visit to Machu Picchu, you will return on foot or by bus to Aguas Calientes. Then, we start the return to Hidroeléctrica. Again, you can choose to make this journey on foot or by train.
When you arrive at Hidroeléctrica, the minibus will be waiting to take you back to Cuzco, where you will arrive approximately at 9:00 PM.
