Highlights
Description
Our 14 day Everest Base Camp Trek (EBC Trek) is the most popular trek in the Everest Region and offers the most spectacular views from day one. Mount Everest is known as Sagarmatha in the Nepalese language, meaning "Mother Goddess of the World".
Everest Base Camp trekking is a stunningly beautiful location surrounded by massive mountains. The best time to visit is from March to May and from September to December.
The adventure begins with a 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla - which is the starting point of your trek. Lukla offers many teahouses and a variety of western food. The trail takes you through the lush green Dudhkosi Valley with its abundance of flora and fauna, Sherpa villages, Buddhist monasteries and Gompas (Tibetan fortifications). You trek first takes you to the Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar where you spend two days acclimatizing – essential for your preparation in climbing at these extreme altitudes. After leaving Namche Bazaar you pass through several small villages, such as Tengboche, Pangboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche where yaks are a common sight as they graze the grassy mounds. Gorakshep is the last village we pass before heading to EBC, that will take about two hours. Gorakshep offers magnificent views of the Khumbu Ice Fall at the head of the Khumbu Glacier at 5486m (17,999ft). From Gorakshep, we trek to Kala Pathar (5643m) - meaning black rock, from where you will have some of the most awesome views of the Himalayan mountains.
