Your Ama Yangri Trek begins with an early morning departure from Kathmandu. After breakfast, you drive north-east towards the Helambu region, following the scenic highway through lush hills, rivers, and traditional settlements. The route passes through Sundarijal area or the Melamchi route depending on road conditions, eventually reaching Melamchi Bazaar. From Melamchi, the journey continues on a winding mountain road towards Tarkeghyang, one of the most beautiful Hyolmo villages in the Helambu region. The drive takes around 5–7 hours, offering views of terraced farmlands, green valleys, and Himalayan landscapes along the way.
After reaching Tarkeghyang (around 2,600m), you begin your trek towards Ama Yangri Base Camp. The trail gradually climbs through beautiful forests filled with pine, oak, and rhododendron trees. The peaceful woodland path provides a refreshing walking experience away from the busy city environment. As you ascend higher, you can enjoy views of surrounding hills and distant mountain peaks. The final section of the trail becomes steeper as you approach the Ama Yangri area. After approximately 3–4 hours of hiking, you reach the base camp area, where you can enjoy the quiet Himalayan atmosphere and views of the surrounding landscapes.
