Itinerary
Itinerary Details
Your Everest Base Camp Budget Trek begins with a spectacular mountain flight from Kathmandu or Ramechhap to Lukla. During the peak trekking seasons (March–May and September–November), most Lukla flights operate from Ramechhap Airport due to air traffic congestion in Kathmandu. The scenic flight offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas before landing at the famous Tenzing-Hillary Airport. After meeting your trekking crew, begin an easy downhill walk through traditional Sherpa villages, crossing prayer wheels and mani walls before reaching Phakding along the banks of the Dudh Koshi River.
After breakfast, follow the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several exciting suspension bridges decorated with colorful prayer flags. Enter Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where your trekking permits are checked. The final ascent to Namche Bazaar is steep but rewarding, with the first weather permitting glimpse of Mount Everest. Namche Bazaar is the commercial and cultural hub of the Khumbu region, offering cafés, bakeries, gear shops, and magnificent mountain views.
Today is reserved for proper acclimatization, which greatly improves your chances of a successful trek. Follow the principle of "climb high, sleep low" by hiking to the famous Everest View Hotel (3,880m), one of the highest luxury hotels in the world. From here, enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. You may also visit the Sherpa Culture Museum before descending back to Namche Bazaar for the night.
Leave Namche Bazaar and enjoy one of the most scenic sections of the Everest trail. The route offers continuous views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and Lhotse before descending to the Dudh Koshi River and climbing through beautiful rhododendron forests to Tengboche. Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, the largest Buddhist monastery in the Everest region, where monks perform daily prayers against the backdrop of towering Himalayan peaks.
After breakfast, descend through forests to Debuche before crossing the Imja River and continuing through Pangboche, one of the oldest Sherpa settlements in the Khumbu. As you gain altitude, the landscape becomes more alpine with fewer trees and wider mountain views. Arrive at Dingboche, a beautiful village surrounded by stone-walled fields beneath the impressive Ama Dablam.
A second acclimatization day is essential before trekking above 5,000 meters. Hike to Nangkartshang Peak (approximately 5,100m), where you'll enjoy panoramic views of Makalu, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Island Peak, and the surrounding Himalayan range. After spending time at higher altitude, descend to Dingboche for another comfortable night.
Today's trail gradually climbs through alpine meadows to Dughla before making a steeper ascent to Thukla Pass, where touching memorials honor climbers and Sherpas who lost their lives on Everest. Continue across glacial terrain with stunning views of Nuptse and Pumori before reaching the small settlement of Lobuche.
Today is the highlight of your adventure. Trek across the rugged moraine of the Khumbu Glacier to Gorakshep, where you'll leave your main luggage before continuing to Everest Base Camp (5,364m). Stand at the foot of the world's highest mountain, surrounded by dramatic glaciers and towering Himalayan peaks. After celebrating this unforgettable achievement, return to Gorakshep for the night.
Rise early for a memorable hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m), the highest point of your trek and the best viewpoint for sunrise over Mount Everest. Enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Pumori, and the Khumbu Glacier before descending to Gorakshep for breakfast. Continue your descent via Lobuche and Thukla to the peaceful village of Pheriche.
Retrace your steps through Pangboche, Tengboche, and lush forests while enjoying warmer temperatures as you descend. Cross suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River and return to the lively Sherpa town of Namche Bazaar, where you can celebrate nearing the completion of your Everest adventure.
Enjoy your final day of trekking as you descend through Monjo, Phakding, and several picturesque Sherpa villages. Cross the famous suspension bridges one last time before the final gentle climb into Lukla. Spend the evening celebrating the successful completion of your Everest Base Camp Budget Trek with your guide and porter.
After breakfast, board your scenic flight back to Kathmandu or Ramechhap, depending on seasonal airline operations. During the busy trekking seasons, flights generally operate via Ramechhap Airport, followed by a shared tourist vehicle transfer (approximately 4–5 hours) to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy the remainder of the day relaxing, shopping for souvenirs, or exploring the vibrant streets of Thamel.
