Explore the Sahara Desert's boundaries on a three-day, cost-effective tour from Marrakech. Take in the Dades Valley and Ouarzazate's Kasbah, ride camels across Erg Chebbi's dunes, and spend the night camping in the desert.
Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Dades
Start your journey by traversing the High Atlas Mountains and passing multiple Berber villages on the way to Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its kasbah and fortified village which has been a location for Hollywood movies and photo shoots.
Take some time to relax, have lunch at a local restaurant, then continue to Ouarzazate, referred as the "Gate of the Sahara", then drive to Boumalne Dades, admiring the scenic Dades Valley, and spend the night at Kasbah Amazigh or Hotel Chems with dinner.
Day 2: Dades - Todgha Gorges - Merzouga
After breakfast, depart from the hotel and drive to Tinghir, to explore the Todgha Gorges. Take some time to explore the canyons, have lunch at a local cafe, and then continue to Merzouga to meet your camel caravan.
Ride the Erg Chebbi dunes on camelback and witness the sunset. Arrive at the desert camp before nightfall, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner under the stars and be entertained by local nomads who will show you how to play the Tam Tam drums. Spend the night there.
Day 3: Merzouga Ouarzazate - Marrakech
After an optional early wake-up to see the sunrise before breakfast (optional), a driver will take you back to Marrakech. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and arrive at your original departure point or Djemaa El Fna around 8 PM.
You can also upgrade your stay in the Bedouin camp and book a deluxe desert camp which comes with a luxury private tent with an ensuite shower, bathroom facilities and 5-star amenities, these upgrades need to be booked per person.
