5-Day Erg Chegaga Desert Adventure

Experience the best of southern Morocco on this unforgettable 5-day journey through majestic mountains, dramatic gorges, traditional Berber villages, and the endless dunes of the Sahara.

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate

Depart from Marrakech and cross the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260 m), enjoying breathtaking panoramic views along the way. Visit the famous Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before continuing to Ouarzazate, known as the "Gateway to the Sahara." Overnight in a comfortable hotel or riad.

Day 2: Ouarzazate – Tilmi via the Dadès Gorges and Msemrir

Travel through the beautiful Valley of Roses before reaching the impressive Dadès Gorges, renowned for their towering rock formations and winding roads. Continue to the remote village of Msemrir, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery, before arriving in the peaceful village of Tilmi for an authentic Berber experience and overnight stay.

Day 3: Tilmi – Zagora via the Todra Gorges and the Saghro Massif

After breakfast, drive to the spectacular Todra Gorges, where sheer limestone cliffs rise over 300 metres above the river. Continue across the rugged volcanic landscapes of the Saghro Massif, passing traditional nomadic settlements and breathtaking desert scenery before reaching Zagora, the gateway to the Sahara. Overnight in a hotel or riad.

Day 4: Zagora – Erg Chegaga

Head deeper into the desert, passing through the Draa Valley and the oasis of M'Hamid before venturing off-road to the magnificent dunes of Erg Chegaga, the largest and wildest dunes in Morocco. Enjoy a camel ride at sunset, admire the changing colours of the sand, and spend a magical evening under the stars in a traditional desert camp with a local dinner and Berber music.

Day 5: Erg Chegaga – Marrakech

Wake up early to witness a spectacular sunrise over the dunes before returning by 4×4 across the desert to Foum Zguid. Continue through changing landscapes, passing Lake Iriki and the High Atlas Mountains on the journey back to Marrakech, bringing this unforgettable Moroccan adventure to a close.
