The Treasures of Maharashtra

Maharashtra is a central state of India by its geographical position but also by its history.

There are many hidden treasures in this state. We invite you to discover these treasures of Maharashtra.

You will start by exploring its capital, Mumbai (Bombay). This fairly recent metro city in the history of India has many UNESCO World Heritage Sites. You will discover that behind the dynamism of the Indian economic capital, hides a strong and lively spirituality. You will also visit the largest slum in Asia. Far from the clichés, you will be immersed in the reality of a very important district of the city. We will descend to the south to visit the Konkan region. You will also discover ancient historical monuments, natural sites and beaches, which is a complete mixture of beautiful sightseeing. You will visit one of the most impressive forts in Maharashtra.

We will then head to the capital of the Marathi Empire which hide in the mountains, is a treasure in itself. You will also discover a small paradise between mountains, rivers and nature.

Thereafter, we will have two days around exceptional temples. Wai has old temples from 15-16th century and similar ones at Jejuri as well. Each temple has its uniqueness.

To finish this exploration, you will discover a place steeped in history in Junnar. We will spend the last day in Matheran in the mountains preserved from noise and pollution.

We kept minimum places but more experiences in the trip to make you enjoy the most.

Day 1: Arrive at Mumbai, pick up in the afternoon, check in at the hotel. Small visit to Colaba, an area built by British monuments, buildings etc.

Day 2: Even if Mumbai is a new metro city, it has many UNESCO-listed monuments and beautiful temples.

Day 3: Visit Dharavi, the largest slum in Asia. Far from the clichés, you will discover a dynamic and lively district which makes it the heart of Mumbai. One of the lunch will be taken here at local home.

Day 4: Journey towards Alibag. This seaside place calls you to relax after hustle bustle of metro city. It has peaceful beaches to enjoy the serene view.

Day 5: Drive to Murud village. This city has a very unique history. We will start with visiting Khokari tombs and Padmadurg fort.

Day 6: Visit of Murud Janjira Fort. This fort is extraordinary. Placed in the middle of the ocean, it is the place of real struggler.

Day 7: Visit the capital of the Marathi Empire, Raigad Fort. You will discover a city in the clouds, hidden in the mountains. It is one of the most beautiful treasures of Maharashtra.

Day 8: Travel towards Koyna dam, a place for relaxation and outdoor games/watersport activities.

Day 9: Boat ride on the Koyna River, visit village and local temple.

Day 10: Visit to temples of Wai. The city had many temples in the past. It has some wonderful designs. We will then head to a unique Barav (water tank/stepwell of Maharashtra.)

Day 11: Visit to Jejuri temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Khandoba is exceptional for several reasons. The most important is the use of turmeric which makes it completely yellow.

Day 12: Journey towards Junnar.

Day 13: Visit historical places around Junnar. Birthplace of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, there is also an exceptional cave with inscriptions from the 1st century BCE.

Day 14: Visit to Matheran hill station and its unique toy train. The village stuck in the mountains prohibit cars which makes it a haven of peace.

Day 15: Return to Mumbai. The tour ends when we arrive in Mumbai with beautiful memories.
