Our next stop is the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion, one of Europe’s most important museums, where we admire more than 15000 artefacts. Afterwards, we have the chance to wander around Heraklion and discover a Venetian fortress at the entrance of the harbor, gorgeous neoclassical buildings, Byzantine churches and many fountains.

Our trip starts from Chania area. During the ride we learn about the traditions in Crete from a local guide. After 2 hours driving by the coastline on the highway we reach the Palace of Knossos, the most famous destination of the day. We spend there about 90 minutes exploring the heart of Minoan civilization, where we can marvel at the 3000-year-old Kings throne and many frescos. Afterwards, the tour includes a visit to the archaeological museum of Heraklion, where we can admire a vast collection of tools, weapons, and arts from the ancient civilization. Following the museum visit, we will have about two hours of free time to further explore the city of Heraklion and its captivating highlights.
