Description

Trogir 4-day mini tour to Zadar, Nin and Vir. Discover Dalmatia

This tour is provided by Monterrasol Travel, a company that specializes in year-round multi-day private car tours in Croatia and other Balkan countries.

Day 1. We depart from Trogir and travel to Sibenik, where we explore the Barone Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a 17th-century defensive structure offering panoramic views of the city. We also visit the nearby St. John Fort and St. Michael Fortress (both UNESCO World Heritage Sites), then wander through Sibenik's atmospheric historical center and admire the magnificent Cathedral of St. James (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a masterpiece of Gothic and Renaissance architecture built entirely of stone between the 15th and 16th centuries. We will stay overnight in Sibenik.

Day 2. After staying in Sibenik, we travel to Zadar to explore its fortified old town (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a city with roots stretching back to antiquity. We stroll through the Roman Forum, the largest on the eastern Adriatic coast, visit the 12th-century St. Anastasia's Cathedral, experience the enchanting Sea Organ, an architectural sound installation that creates melodies from the waves, and explore the unique Underwater Archaeology museum, showcasing finds from submerged ancient sites. We will stay in Zadar.

Day 3. After staying in Zadar, we travel to Fortica to explore the Fortica Fortress, a Venetian hilltop fort offering sweeping views over the island of Pag and the Velebit mountain range. We then continue to Nin, a historic town built on a small island, to visit the Salt Museum, which preserves the tradition of salt production dating back to Roman times, and see the tiny 9th-century Holy Cross Church, often called the smallest cathedral in the world. Our journey proceeds to the island of Vir to see Kastelina Castle, a 19th-century fortified manor house, and to admire the breathtaking Red Stone viewpoint. After that, we will return to Zadar for accommodation.

Day 4. After 2 nights in Zadar, we travel back to Sibenik to see the sea-guardian St. Nicholas Fortress (UNESCO World Heritage Site), located at the entrance to the St. Anthony Channel. We then continue to the charming coastal town of Primosten(UNESCO Tentative List site), known for its picturesque old town on a small peninsula and beautiful beaches. Our journey proceeds to Loreto to see the Statue of Our Lady of Loreto, a 30-meter-tall votive monument erected in 1960 by the grateful people of Primosten after their vineyards were miraculously spared from disease. A richly decorated gray stone column supports the black statue of the Virgin Mary, placed on one side and facing the sea and the town. The location also offers a stunning panoramic viewpoint over Primosten, the surrounding islands, and the open Adriatic. Finally, we return to Trogir, where our memorable journey concludes.

Overall, with this tour you will visit 3 UNESCO World Heritage sites and 1 site from the UNESCO Tentative List.

We provide this tour year-round. We recommend you consider having a tour before or after the high season, when it is not so hot and not so crowded but all the sights and attractions are already or are still open. Especially, this applies to elderly people, who need to be careful with sun exposure and high temperatures.

We, at Monterrasol Travel, practice the Slow Tourism philosophy. That means that we work our tours at a pace that allows our clients to have a more authentic experience and a true exploration of each destination we visit. We dismiss the stress, the rush, the tight schedules and the crazy running from spot to spot, specially related to bus travel package tours for large groups.

We love to travel in a relaxed, not hurried way. All our tours have been designed with that key idea in mind, and try to keep balance between the places scheduled to visit and free time to take a break. Also, we do not like to keep our clients for a long time in the car due to the long distances between itinerary points, just the fair amount of time.

Transportation is in a minivan with air conditioner and English speaking driver. Feel free to ask to stop whenever you need, for a nice image or some snack.

This tour (same as the other tours we offer) is available in English and Spanish. Disponible en Español.
