Mount Učka, Croatia - Dry Peak Ridge

Vojak – Dry Peak Ridge

We are basically covering two prominent peaks of Mt. Ucka; Vojak peak (the summit of Ucka), and Suhi Vrh, which rises above the sea on the southern slopes of Ucka.

From Vojak, it’s a fairly strenuous downhill walk to the verdant Suhi Vrh peak, but you will be rewarded with a sense of remoteness, as well as spectacular views over the Adriatic islands. From Vojak peak on a clear day, you may even see all the way to the Venice, Italian Alps and the Julian Alps in Slovenia.

We arrange the exact departure time with each client/group individually. Contact the guide by e-mail or phone to arrange the details of your itinerary.

You can choose the morning or the afternoon version of the tour. The trail tends to be the most beautiful in the afternoon because of the low light, especially at sunset. We choose the departure time depending on the season (given that sun rising and setting time change throughout the year).

The guide will pick you up in front of your accommodation. There is a 20-minute drive to the start of the trail from Opatija (a 40-minute drive from Rijeka).

The trail takes approximately 3 hours of time, including breaks. It is necessary to have a windproof jacket and to dress adequately concerning the season. Hiking shoes are strongly advised.

Throughout the trail, you will walk across the grassy ridge and hillsides, walk the summit above the tree line, move among the bush, and you will enjoy great, open views (all the more as the sun sets) of the long ridge that lies to the south and disappears in a distance.

A stable foot is needed because the terrain is uneven. We are moving at a leisurely, easy pace.

After the hike, you will go to a local tavern with your guide. After dinner, the guide will drive you back to your accommodation.
