The present Dakrong Bridge that we see today was built in 1975 and rebuilt in 2001. The reunification of north and south Vietnam led to the construction of the bridge. During the war with the US, the bridge area was severely contested. It fell many times, however, as of now it is a magnificent suspension bridge. Hence it cannot be broken down now.

The road from the Dakrong Bridge gets us to Laos, and even the buses make a stopover at the bridge. There is a small village across the bridge, another popular destination for the visitors. The majestic scenery from the bridge is worth noticing. Nature has gifted this place with wonderful beauty and natural outlook.

If you are in So La Province then missing visiting the bridge would be a total loss to you. Dakrong Bridge also provides a connecting point to the main market of Ho Chi Minh city. It remained a famous route for munition and troops supply to south Vietnam in war times. Most of the people come to visit the bridge early morning so that they could have some time to explore the nearby village and then go to the main market.

Such kind of architectural places tells a lot of stories about the development of the nation. Every building/bridge has its own anecdote to tell how it contributed to the building of nation. It reminds the old bad days when foreign powers exploited the locals for their own vested interests. Locals have preserved it just to keep remembering how the division of nations along various lines can impact the overall power of Vietnam.

Keep a diary and camera along when you go to such places to jot down and capture the small details the Dakrong Bridge furnish to the commoners.
