Ha Long Bay, the bay on the northwest coast of the Gulf of Tonkin, near the city of Ha Long (Hong Gai), Quang Ninh province, northern Vietnam. Situated 102 miles (164 km) southeast of Hanoi, the 580-square-mile (1,500-square-km) area contains some 3,000 rocky and earthen islands, typically in the form of jagged limestone pillars jutting out from the sea, and several caves and grottoes, all of which blend together to produce an exotic and picturesque seascape. A diverse population of marine and land mammals, reptiles, fish, and birds are found in the waters and tropical forests.

There are two similar legends about the origin of the bay, which are reflected in its name. The first legend asserts that a dragon stomped on the earth with such force that mountains crumbled, forming large valleys that soon filled with water; only the peaks of mountains—now the rocky islands of Ha Long Bay—remained above the surface. The alternate folklore tells of a dragon whose large tail tore up the earth, creating valleys and crevices that became flooded when the beast jumped into the nearby water. Both versions lent themselves to the modern-day legend of Tarasque, a dragonlike marine creature believed to inhabit the bay.

8.15 – 8.50: Get picked up at the hotel in Hanoi Old Quater/Opera House to depart for Halong Bay
Our journey follows Ha Noi – Hai Phong – Tuan Chau Highway (about a 2.5-hour drive)
12.00: Arrive at Tuan Chau Harbor, get on the boat to start the excursion discovering the beauty of the world heritage site.
12.30: Enjoy a menu lunch on the boat with many unique dishes of Halong. While having lunch, you all can see the beautiful scenery on both sides with thousands of limestone such as Fighting Chicken and Incense Buner Islets – 2 symbols of Halong Bay.
14.00: Arrive at Bo Hon Island, and you will visit Sung Sot Cave – the most beautiful cave with a lot of stalagmites and stalactites.
14.45: Do kayaking or bamboo boat through Luon Cave to discover the beautiful lagoon.
15.15: Visit TiTop Island with its sandy beach. You can go swimming here or trek up to the top of the island for sightseeing all of Halong Bay.
16.00: Back to the boat for the sunset party (some wine, fruits, and biscuits) meanwhile the ship is cruising back to the harbour.
17.45: Arrive back at the harbour. Get on the bus and return to Hanoi.
20.30: Get dropped off at the hotel. Tour ends.
