The legendary King David's cave

According to legend, the biblical King David (Daud) escaped his enemies through this cave, miraculously parting the rocks with his hands. Hazrat Daud is traditionally regarded as the patron saint of blacksmiths.

The cave is located in the Mirankul Mountains, approximately 40 km from Samarkand. At the foot of the mountain lies a large garden where pilgrims gather to prepare food and perform traditional sacrifices.

From here, pilgrims can ascend to the summit on foot via 2,500 steep steps, or choose to ride a donkey or horse to the top.

09:30 – Arrival at Hazrat Daud Complex

Arrive at the foot of the mountain. Free time to explore the garden area where pilgrims gather, prepare food, and perform traditional rituals.

10:00 – Ascent to the Cave

Begin the ascent to the mountain summit:

  • Walk up 2,500 stone steps, or
  • Ride a donkey or horse (optional, paid on site)

Short stops along the way for rest, photos, and views of the surrounding mountains.
