Walking Safaris Tours in Murchison Falls Uganda
Bush Wonderers Walking Safaris offers guided and experiential walking safaris tours in Murchison Falls National Park , Uganda. These are guided tours usually over 3-5 days, exclusive and private experience for small groups max 6- 8 persons. Accommodation in a fully equipped mobile tented camp, freshly cooked meals prepared at the site. The trips are customized with other activities (game drives, boat rides and others) according to your preferences. Walking Safaris give you freedom to explore areas unreachable by car, and our walks are usually 3-5 hours hours every morning. During the walk, you can expect to see a variety of wildlife (buffalos, antelopes, elephants) and a variety of birdlife, plants, trees, and insects.
A day on a walking safari would be:
Breakfast served in early morning prior to the walk or packed
Bush Walk starting around 7am lasting between 2-4 hours
Midday rest in the camp and enjoy your lunch, and our mini bush library with a variety of books and games available
Afternoon shorter walk lasting about (1-2 hours) around the camp or a game drive, followed by a stunning sundowner at Nyamsika view point, and a full course dinner in the camp.
Alternative activities include a boat ride on the Nile river and a visit to the Top of the Falls.

BUSH GATE AWAY TOUR - (4 DAYS) ITINERARY
DAY 1 - ARRIVAL TO NYAMSIKA CAMP
- Arrival at Nyamsika camp midday to afternoons
- Trip Briefing.
- Optional: Short walk in the vicinity (1-2 hours), followed by welcome sundowner at Nyamsika Viewpoint with superb views.
DAY 2 - NYAMSIKA CAMP
- Early breakfast at 6:30am. Morning walk towards Te Okot (2.5-3.5hrs). Terrain and slightly more hilly with some gullies and some Borassus Palms. Good chance to see some groups of elephants, and variety of antelopes especially in the dry season. Early lunch around 12pm, followed by siesta relax and soak in the wilderness. Afternoon game drive ore another shorter walk around 4-5pm.
DAY 3 - NYAMSIKA CAMP
- Option 1. Morning transfer for the boat ride combined with visit to the Top of the Falls incl. hike from the river (45 min). Afternoon shorter walk (2 hrs) around Nyamsika in the dry riverbed.
- Option 2. Alternative is morning longer walk to the River Nile (4-5 hrs). Sandals are recommended for some wading through shallow warm water. This riverbed is frequented by variety of wildlife from waterbuck, buffaloes, kobs, hartebeest, elephants; and an occasional hyena. Lots of footprints to observe. The boat will be waiting for us at the end of the walk to take us on a 2 hour ride to the bottom of the Falls and back. Packed lunch on the boat. Return to the camp late afternoon to rest.
DAY 4 - MORNING ACTIVITY AND DEPARTURE
- Morning spectacular walk around Nyamsika riverbed (1.5-2 hrs) depending on the itinerary. Breakfast at a view point and transfer of guests to the airstrip or other destination.
