- Gorilla Trekking Experience After meeting your ranger guides, you will begin trekking through the dense rainforest in search of the mountain gorillas. The trek can take between 3 to 7 hours depending on the movement and location of the gorilla family. Trekking involves hiking through steep slopes, muddy trails, thick vegetation, and uneven terrain, making it both physically demanding and highly adventurous. Visitors are advised to carry: Drinking water, Packed lunch or snacks, Rain jacket, Hiking boots, Gardening gloves, Walking stick. Because the weather in Bwindi changes quickly, rain can occur at any time even during the dry season. Porters are available at the park headquarters to assist visitors with carrying bags and providing support during the trek. Hiring a porter also helps support the local communities around the park.
