Itinerary of the Bwindi Gorilla Trekking Expedition: We pick you up from the airport and take you to any hotel you book by yourself in Entebbe for a night to relax after a long flight and be ready to start your adventure the next morning. DAY 1 - Travel to Bwindi - Pick-up in the morning from your hotel in Entebbe. - You will after breakfast set off for an 8-9 hour drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in the southwestern part of the country. - You will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time and take some photos. - You will make another stopover for lunch en-route before continuing with your journey to Bwindi arriving in the evening. - Dinner and overnight will be at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge. DAY 2 - Gorilla trekking in Bwindi - You will have an early morning breakfast and move to the Park headquarters to join other trackers in a briefing about the gorilla trekking rules at 7:45 AM. - You will trek through thick creepers and undergrowth with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you 1-8 hours. - The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access for people. - You will have one hour to stay with the Gorillas. - Dinner and overnight will be at Rushaga Gorilla Havens Lodge. DAY 3 - Visit Lake Bunyonyi and Travel back to Entebbe - Wake up early in the morning, have your breakfast, end your stay in the Land of the Mountain Gorillas and depart with great memories of the moments spent with the fascinating Mountain Gorillas. - Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in western Uganda. It is the second deepest lake in Africa (900 meters deep) and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia free. - Take canoe on this lake before traveling back to Entebbe with lunch en-route. - Hotel drop-off or, if you wish, we take you directly to the Entebbe Airport where you will catch your flight back home.
