Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Tarangire National Park
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA)
From Arusha, we journey to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s largest and most captivating national parks located in the Manyara region. This remarkable destination is renowned for its large herds of elephant, majestic tree-climbing lions, and the iconic baobab trees, often referred to as the Tree of life due to the mythical significance attributed to them in various cultures.
Day 2: Tarangire to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, transfer to Lake Manyara National Park. Upon entering the park, you will be greeted by troops of baboons and graceful blue monkeys playing in the forest canopy. As we move toward the open plains, we will encounter herds of elephants and, if lucky, catch sight of the park's famous tree-climbing lions lounging in the acacia trees. The lake's edge is paradise for bird enthusiasts, with vibrant flocks of flamingos and over 400 bird species, including pelicans, storks, and kingfishers.
The game drive will provide a final chance to spot some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife, including buffalo, giraffes, and zebra, all against the stunning backdrop of the Rift Valley cliffs. After our morning game drive, we enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, savoring the peaceful ambiance of the natural surroundings. In the afternoon, we make our way back to Arusha, where your adventure concludes. You will be transferred to your hotel or to Kilimanjaro International Airport, depending on your departure plans.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater Tour
On day 3 we depart early in the morning from Lake Manyara and journey toward the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of the world’s most famous natural wonders. This ancient volcanic caldera, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a truly unique safari experience. Upon arrival, we begin our descent into the crater, dropping nearly 600 meters down its steep walls into a lush, green paradise. The crater floor spans about 260 square kilometers and is home to a dense concentration of wildlife. The enclosed habitat supports a year-round population of elephants, lions, buffalo, and black rhinos – the latter being a rare sight on many safaris.
Day 4-5: Kogatende – Northern Serengeti
On day 4, we head north to the Kogatende area, where the drama of the Great Migration unfolds along the Mara River. For the next five days, we will be at the heart of this incredible natural event, witnessing thousands of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles as they bravely cross the river, avoiding lurking crocodiles and other predators. The sight of this vast migration is truly incredible, filled with action and suspense. Apart from the river crossings, we will also explore the stunning landscape of Kogatende, home to elephants, lions, cheetahs, and more. The rolling hills, riverine woodlands, and sweeping grasslands offer the perfect setting for a thrilling wildlife experience. At the end of each day, we will return to the camp or lodge for a relaxing evening amidst the sounds of the Serengeti.
Day 6: Northern Serengeti Wilderness Exploration
Day 6 is dedicated to exploring more of the Northern Serengeti. This region is famous for its remote, untouched wilderness, and offers a deeper sense of connection to nature. With fewer tourists in the area, you will feel as though you have the Serengeti to yourself. The day’s game drive will take us through various terrains, from rocky outcrops and hills to wide open plains, where we will encounter more of the migration herds as they continue their journey. The Mara River remains a focal point as both the migrating herds and resident wildlife, including hippos and crocodiles, gather around its banks. The riverine forest also provides shelter for leopards and numerous bird species, making this area a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. As the day winds down, we return to our accommodation, taking with us memories of another day filled with Serengeti’s wild beauty.
Day 7: Northern Serengeti to Mara River Region
On Day 7, we continue exploring the Mara River Region, where the migration and predator-prey encounters are at their peak. This day is all about experiencing the raw drama of the Great Migration, as herds navigate the dangerous waters of the Mara River. Here, you will likely witness heart-pounding scenes of survival as animals cross while predators like lions, cheetahs, and hyenas wait for their chance to strike. The landscape in this area is a beautiful blend of rocky cliffs, lush forests, and open plains, making it one of the most scenic and action-packed parts of the Serengeti. It’s a perfect ending to our adventure in the Northern Serengeti.
Day 8: From Serengeti to Arusha
After breakfast we continue with a morning game drive. After our morning game drive, we enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, savoring the peaceful ambiance of the natural surroundings. In the afternoon, we make our way back to Arusha, where your adventure concludes. You will be transferred to your hotel or to Kilimanjaro International Airport depending on your departure plans.
