Hikers are accompanied by an armed ranger due to the abundance of wildlife on the lower slopes, particularly in Arusha National Park. 3 Days Mount Meru Tanzania is a great hiking option for those who want to face a hiking challenge in the mountains of Tanzania and feel like they are in nature. Mount Meru climb can be your option if you are unable to climb Kilimanjaro due to its altitude and difficulty as each mountain in Tanzania has its own challenges.

Distance covered: 6km, Approx. time taken: 5 hours.
You will leave your hotel at 08:00. Meter. in Arusha/Moshi and drive one to half an hour to Momella Gate, the starting point of the first day of the Mt. Meru Trek. After check-in, begin your trek in the company of an armed ranger who will help you escape wild animals in Arusha National Park and generally towards Mount Meru. Along the route you will enjoy spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the Momella Lakes. You will find animals such as Cape buffalo, giraffe, warthog and bushbuck among many others. Your trek ends on the first day at Miriakamba Hut, where you will spend the night.

The second day's hike takes you along the steep path along the saddle ridge. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Meru Crater, Cinder Cone and Little Meru Peak along the way. Keep an eye out for wildlife and amazing wildflowers as you walk through the forest. Common animals include buffalo, black and white colobus monkeys. Your hike ends at the saddle hut, where you will spend the night. After resting at camp, embark on a 1-hour acclimatization hike to Little Meru and then return to Saddle Hut.

We start early in the morning at least 7:30 am. Walk steeply from Rhino Point to Cobra Point. We reach the summit of Mount Meru (4566m) in time for sunrise. There is a chance to see the peak of Kilimanjaro above the clouds. The final part of the hike follows a dramatically narrow ridge line between the steep inner cliffs and the sloping outer wall of the crater. We take a short break and brunch at Saddle Hut before continuing to Miriakamba Hut and finally to Momella Gate. The transfer back to Arusha/Moshi will pick you up at Momella Gate and take you back to your accommodation.
