3 DAYS KILIMANJARO MACHAME ROUTE ITINERARY

Day 1: Moshi/Arusha town to Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Hiking time: 7 hours, Distance: Approximately 18 km

After an early breakfast in Arusha/Moshi, our driver from Afro-Vertex Tours and Safaris will transfer you to Machame Village. In the village we buy mineral water for you and give you a lunch box to take away. You continue from the village to the Machame gate. After registration and permission at the Machame gate, start your climb and enter the vegetation zone where our mountain guide will be with you to explain everything about the said forest. You will have a welcome lunch at stop about halfway up and arrive at Machame campsite in the late afternoon. In the evening, the porters boil water for drinking and washing, and the cook prepares supper before retiring to his tent for the night. At night, temperatures can drop below freezing at this campsite.

Day 2: Machame camp to Shira camp

Hiking time: 6hours, Distance: Approximately 9 km.

Early morning at Machame Camp and after breakfast you will hike for about an hour to the top of the forest and then for 2 hours on a gentler slope through the moorland. After a quick lunch and rest, we continue up a rocky ridge to the Shira Plateau, where our terminus is located. You are now west of Kibo and after a short walk you reach Shira camp at 3,840 m. The porters boil drinking and washing water before serving dinner. The night at this exposed campground will be even cooler than the night before, with temperatures well below freezing.

Day 3: Shira (at 3840m) to Machame gate

Hiking time: 7hours, Distance: Approximately 27 km

The descent to the Machame Gate begins immediately after breakfast. It will be a long trek as we will have to cover approximately 27 km and skip Machame camp, so it is recommended to prepare beforehand with the necessary equipment. The vehicle will be waiting for you at Machame Gate and take you to your hotel in Moshi/Arusha.

3 DAYS MACHAME ROUTE KILIMANJARO ATTRACTIONS

The Montane Forest is the main attraction and begins a few steps after you step through the front gate. It is a dense forest with many species of plants such as impatient Kilimanjaro, a flower found only on Mount Kilimanjaro. You can also see blue monkeys and black and white colobus monkeys.
