Day by day itinerary for the best 7 days machame route kilimanjaro climbing

Day 0: Arrive in Tanzania.

When you arrive in Tanzania, you will be picked with our special honest team from Kilimanjaro international airport to the hotel in Moshi town. There after you will meet with your professional and experienced mountain guide to give you brief of the climbing adventure and all necessary mountain gears. Missing one will be rented on this day.

Day 1: Moshi town to machame gate to machame camp.

Elevation (ft): 1,800 m to 2835 m

Distance: 11 km

Hiking Time: 5-6 hours

Habitat: Montane Forest/ Rain Forest.

After the early breakfast. you will be transferred by our guide from the hotel in Moshi town to machame gate for registration and receiving permit of hiking. There after starting climbing from machame gate to machame camp via lush lower slopes of Kilimanjaro Mountain. Before reaching machame camp you will enjoy the diverse of flora and fauna in the rain forest before reach to first machame camp. If there is light permit, could allow first closer look at the glaciated dome of Kibo.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp.

Elevation (ft):2835 m to 3,750 m

Distance: 5 km

Walking Time: 5-6 hours

Habitat: Moorland

Full Board Shira Cave Camp.

After wake up early in the morning, take breakfast and continue climbing to a small semicircular cliff called picnic site and continue ascend to the amazing wild alpine flowers located at lower alpine moorland. After reaching shira camp your mountain guide and crew will establish camping site, you will take lunch, dinner, resting and enjoying your night. Shira point provide views of Kibo peak

Day 3: Shira camp to barranco camp.

Elevation (ft.): Shira Cave camp 3,750 m to Baraco Camp 3,900 m

Distance: 10 km

Walking Time: 5 to 6 hours

Habitat: Moorland

Accommodation: Barranco Camp

Early in the morning after breakfast. Mountain guide will walk with you on gentle ascent and paranomic view. During safari will pass underneath lava Tower to western Breach and take lunch. After having lunch, continue descend to the Great Barranco Valley. Camp will be established and taking dinner, rest and whole night.

Day 4: Barranco camp to Karanga camp.

Elevation (ft.): Barranco Camp 3,900 m to Karanga Camp 3995 m

Distance: 6 km

Hiking Time: 3.5 to 4 hours

Habitat: Moorland

Accommodations: Karanga Camp.

Early breakfast you will continue ascend to Heim Glacier that allow viewing of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will continue to hike with Winners Expeditions mountain guide to the Great Barranco wall and descend to alpine desert with attractive overview land scape of karanga valley and finally continue climb to karanga camp where establishment of camping site will done, enjoying dinner and whole overnight.

Day 5: Karanga camp to Barafu camp.

Elevation (ft.): Karanga camp 3995 m to Barafu Camp 4,673 m

Distance: 4 km

Hiking Time: 3-4 hours

Habitat: Alpine Desert

Accommodations: Barafu Hut Camp.

Early in the morning after breakfast you will continue hiking and leave karanga camp via scree with wide view and attractive dry land scape to barafu camp. barafu point provide viewing of kibo peak and mawenzi peak. At barafu camp you will take dinner and rest while preparing your body with all necessary equipment for summit.

Day 6: Barufu camp to uhuru to Mweka camp.

Elevation (ft.): Barafu Camp 4,673 m to Uhuru peak 5,895 m {Via Stella Point 5756m}

Distance: 4.3 km ascent to Stella Point

Distance: 5 km Barafu to Uhuru Peak Ascent.

Hiking Time: 6-7hours ascent / 7-8 hours descent

Habitat: Alpine Desert

Accommodations: Mweka Camp.

During the midnight you will wake up and take all necessary summit gear mountain guide will brief you how to summit. You will begin climb over volcanic scree with zigzag movement point. You will stop at Stella and receiving the sunrise .There after you will continue climb up to the top of mountain Kilimanjaro where you will experience changes of weather condition, also you will be able to see amazing landscape as well as different part of Africa continent. You will spend few minutes for taking photos and start descending down toward barafu camp where you will gate lunch. There after you will continue descend to Mweka camp for your enjoyable dinner and whole overnight.

Day 7: Mweka camp to Mweka gate to Moshi town hotel

Elevation (ft.): Mweka camp3100 m to Mweka Gate 1,640 m

Distance: 10 km

Hiking Time: 4 -5 hours

Habitat: Montane Forest

Early in the morning you will break fast, then you will continue descending from Mweka camp to Mweka gate for receiving summit certificate. Then guides will take you to best hotel in Moshi town for enjoying meals and refreshment. A day of departure you will be taken to Kilimanjaro international airport back to your home country.
