This route is the only Kilimanjaro trail offering comfortable mountain huts for accommodation instead of camping. The trek passes through lush rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and arctic summit zones before reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa.

Itinerary
After breakfast, transfer from Moshi to Marangu Gate for registration and trek briefing. Begin your hike through dense rainforest, home to colobus monkeys and exotic birdlife. Arrive at Mandara Hut for dinner and overnight.
Hiking Time: 4–5 hours
Distance: 8 km
Leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. Enjoy spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks while trekking through giant heather and unique alpine vegetation. Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut.
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Distance: 12 km
Spend the day acclimatizing to altitude. Take a short hike toward Zebra Rocks and return to Horombo Hut for rest. Proper acclimatization significantly increases summit success rates.
Hiking Time: 3–4 hours
Continue through the alpine desert zone toward Kibo Hut. The landscape becomes more rugged and barren as you approach the summit base camp. Rest early and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.
Hiking Time: 5–6 hours
Distance: 10 km
Begin the summit push shortly after midnight. Reach Gilman's Point, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the Roof of Africa. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Kibo Hut and then further down to Horombo Hut for overnight.
Hiking Time: 10–14 hours
Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi for celebration and overnight stay or onward travel arrangements.
