Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha you’ll be met by your safari guide and transferred to your hotel in Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, you can relax at the hotel, enjoy the gardens, or explore the town on your own. Arusha is a peaceful town at the base of Mount Meru and a great starting point for any safari.
Day 2: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, your safari officially begins. You’ll meet your guide and drive about 2.5 hours southwest to Tarangire National Park. As you enter the park, you’ll see huge baobab trees, rolling hills, and herds of animals gathering near the Tarangire River. This park is especially known for large elephant families and many types of birds, but you can also spot lions, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, and sometimes leopards. You’ll enjoy a full-day game drive with a break for lunch at a picnic site inside the park. In the late afternoon, you’ll exit the park and drive to the nearby town of Karatu, located on the edge of the Ngorongoro Highlands.
Day 3: Karatu to Serengeti National Park
Today you’ll have an early breakfast before starting your drive toward the Serengeti. The journey takes you through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you may see wildlife and Maasai herders along the way. There are several viewpoints where you can stop to enjoy stunning views over the plains. By midday, you’ll reach the central Serengeti, known as Seronera, where you’ll begin your first game drive. This area is rich in wildlife all year round and offers the best chances of seeing big cats, like lions, cheetahs, and sometimes leopards. You’ll also see wildebeest, zebras, antelopes, and many types of birds. As the sun sets, you’ll head to your tented camp inside the park for a hot shower, dinner, and rest in the peaceful bush.
Day 4: Full Day in Serengeti National Park
Today is all about wildlife and exploring the endless plains of the Serengeti. You’ll start with an early morning game drive, a perfect time to see predators on the move. The cool air and golden light make it one of the most beautiful times of the day. You’ll return to the camp for a late breakfast or continue exploring with a packed picnic lunch. Day 5: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you’ll enjoy one last morning game drive in the Serengeti. It’s your final chance to spot anything you may have missed, maybe a pride of lions resting under a tree or a group of hyenas wandering the plains. You’ll then begin your drive back through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing more wildlife and open landscapes. You’ll arrive in the Ngorongoro Highlands in the late afternoon, where the air is cooler and the views are beautiful. You can rest, take in the fresh highland air, and enjoy your last dinner in the bush.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha - Departure
This morning you’ll wake up early for one of the most special parts of the safari a visit to the Ngorongoro Crater, also called "Africa’s Eden." You’ll descend over 600 meters into the crater, a natural home to thousands of animals. It’s one of the only places in Tanzania where you can see black rhinos, and it also has lions, buffalo, warthogs, zebras, flamingos, and hippos. After a picnic lunch near a waterhole, you’ll drive back up to the crater rim and begin your journey to Arusha. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel or the airport depending on your plans.
