Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park – Karatu
Your safari begins with morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha at around 7:30 AM. You’ll drive approximately 2.5 hours to Tarangire National Park, known for its dense population of elephants and scenic savannah dotted with baobab trees. You’ll enjoy a full-day game drive, where you might encounter lions, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and a variety of bird species. After your safari in Tarangire, you’ll exit the park in the late afternoon and head to the highland’s town of Karatu, located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Day 2: Ngorongoro Crater - Return to Arusha
After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the Ngorongoro Crater and descend 600 meters into this incredible wildlife sanctuary. The crater floor offers a high chance of seeing the Big Five, especially black rhinos, elephants, lions, and large herds of wildebeest and zebra. Watch for hippos around the lakes and flamingos near the soda flats. You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater near a hippo pool, then ascend the crater rim in the early afternoon and begin your return journey to Arusha, arriving around 4:00–5:00 PM.
