The Arctic Unveiled: Sweden to Norway by Rail – 11 Days
Day 1: Stockholm – Arrival in Sweden’s capital and time to explore the historic centre and waterfront districts. Overnight in central Stockholm.
Day 2: Stockholm & Overnight Train North – Guided walk through Gamla Stan and visit on own to the Vasa Museum. Evening departure on the Arctic sleeper train to Lapland. Overnight aboard train.
Day 3: Kiruna & Sámi Experiences – Arrival in Kiruna with panoramic town tour. Husky sledding through snowy forests and evening visit to a Sámi reindeer herder with traditional dinner and Northern Lights viewing. Overnight in Kiruna.
Day 4: Jukkasjärvi & Björkliden – Guided visit to the Icehotel and Sámi Church in Jukkasjärvi. Scenic train journey along Lake Torneträsk to Björkliden. Overnight in the mountains.
Day 5: Björkliden – Day at leisure in the Arctic wilderness or optional ice climbing. Evening guided snowshoe walk with aurora storytelling. Overnight in Björkliden.
Day 6: Abisko National Park – Train to Abisko for exploration of frozen canyons, Sámi heritage sites and lakeside scenery. Optional evening snowmobile aurora adventure. Overnight in Björkliden.
Day 7: Björkliden – Narvik – Train journey on the Ofoten Railway, Europe’s northernmost rail line, descending from mountain fells to Norwegian fjords. Overnight in Narvik.
Day 8: Narvik – Lofoten Islands – Scenic bus journey to Svolvær. Check-in to traditional rorbu cabins and evening floating sauna experience. Overnight in Lofoten.
Day 9: Lofoten Landscapes – Full-day guided exploration of beaches, fishing villages, viewpoints and historic churches across the islands. Evening at leisure in Svolvær. Overnight in Lofoten.
Day 10: Trollfjorden & Arctic Wildlife – RIB boat safari to Trollfjorden with sea eagle sightings. Optional local food tasting or evening aurora photography tour. Overnight in Lofoten.
