We will come to pick you up from your cruise ship and after the Colombo City Tour drop you off back to your Cruise Ship. We will pick up you from the harbor and proceed to the Colombo City Shore Excursion from a Cruise Ship. Galle Face Green: - Stop for 30 min. - No Entrance Fees. - Photography allowed. Galle Face is an ocean-side urban park comprising of 5 ha (12 acres). It is in the heart of Colombo, the most attractive and well-planned financial hub of Sri Lanka. Extending along the coast up to 500 m (1600 ft) makes it more attractive. Governor Sir Henry George Ward inaugurated the promenade in 1859, even though the Galle Face Green was spanned over a much broader area in the first place which we are seeing today, a bit contracted. Horse riders used to be here and at times it acted as Golf Course as well. However, now it is used for football, rugby, tennis, and polo. Bmich: - No Stop (passing by). People of the Republic of China gifted the BIMCH building to the Sri Lankan as a tribute to the late Prime Minister S.W.R.D Bandaranaike. The construction work on the building was started in 1970 but the first conference hall was formally inaugurated in 1973. Coupled with multiple types of conference and concert halls, this building was the first of its kind here where multiple national as well international events could be hosted. Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple: - Stop for 60 min. - No Entrance Fees. - Photography allowed. Gangaramaya Temple was the project of Hikkaduwa Sri Sumangala Nayaka Thera whose construction started in the 19th century. He was a well-known scholar-monk. As it dates back to the 19th century, therefore, it is regarded as one of the oldest Buddhist Temple built in Colombo. Devendra Sri Jinaratana Nayake was taken care of the temple after the death of Sri Sumangala. Dynamic leadership and vision of the Sri Jinatana turned the temple from a small prayer place to the building of international stature. Independence Square: - Stop for 30 min. - No Entrance Fees. - Photography allowed. Independence Memorial Hall was actually built to commemorate the struggle of Si Lankan people against the rule of the British Empire. After independence, the local legislature took full responsibility for the Sri Lankan affairs and till February 4, 1948, it is legislating for the local population. It is located along with Independence Memorial Hall in Independence Square which was formally called Torrington Square.
