Overview
Our Sleeping Dragon Canyoning Tour is a beginner friendly canyoning tour that takes place close to the coastal resort town of Samcheok. The canyon includes swimming, rappels, waterslides and some jumps. During the Summer months the water temperatures are very mild.

Description
Sleeping Dragon Canyoning Tour, Samcheok, South Korea
The tour will take between 3 and 4 hours.
At the car park, we will issue equipment (helmet, harness, wetsuit and wetsuit socks).
We will hike up the valley in swimwear (we recommend boardshorts, leggings and rash vest), carrying our equipment.
The hike up the valley, on easy trail, takes around 1 hour.
When we reach the highest point of our hike, we will put on the wetsuits - and then we descend the valley.
As canyoning tours do not run here very regularly, on the descent, we'll have to check each pool, which will slow our progress slightly. Everything will be safe.
Be advised, on approach, we pass close by to some bee hives. There is usually no issue, but if you have allergies, let us know.
Venomous snakes are also not uncommon on this mountain. The guide will hike ahead of you and manage this risk.
For the hike, we do recommend leggings (which can then be worn under the wetsuit), to protect you from any possibility of tick bites. If you do not have leggings, you can wear long pants which the guide will then carry on the descent (but these pants will get wet).
On tour, we will provide drinking water and a snack.
We also bring a waterproof camera. After the tour, we will send you all the photos that we take.
There are no bathroom facilities at the carpark.
There is no changing room or shower facility.
Your guide will have a dry container on tour. You can keep essential medication inside.
Other valuables are left in cars at the carpark. We do not recommend taking phones into the canyon.
On the tour, we ask people not to wear aftershave or deodorants - anything that might introduce contaminants into the stream.
Whether you wear sunscreen is entirely up to you (the sun can be fierce in the summer). The trail is not always well protected from the sun but once in the canyon, the wetsuits cover the whole body except for hands and face.
It is possible to carry sunhats on the walk in. Longsleeved rash vests and pants are also advisable because there are ticks in Korea too.

For the tour, you will need:
- your own swimwear
- your own footwear* (we provide neoprene socks to wear inside your shoes)
- sunscreen
- any medication you require
*suitable shoes are trainers or trail shoes [NOT sandals and NOT surfing boots]
