Day trip from Bucharest to three castles in Transylvania
Early in the morning, leave Bucharest behind and head north to reach the Carpathian Mountains. The first stop of the day is Peles Castle. this is an overwhelming place built by the first king of Romania, Carol I. In this fairytale location you will learn more about the Romanian Monarchy and its heritage. You will discover all the wonders of this beautiful palace that seems frozen in time.
Next, you will push further north to cross the mountains and eventually reach the historical region of Transylvania. Here you will begin your vampire hunt to learn all about Bram Stocker's Vlad the Impaler and Dracula. Next stop is the medieval Bran castle, also known as Dracula's Castle.
After Bran you will head to the thirteenth century medieval fortress of Rasnov, an impressive site built on a mountain peak that dominates the entire surrounding valley. This impressive site was actually built by the Teutonic Knights when they first came here almost 800 years ago. The last stop of the day is the medieval part of Brasov. Take a walking city tour of this charming old town with its impressive history and landmarks. From here you start your return journey to Bucharest.
