Having most of its surface covered with forests, the Carpathian mountains of Romania are ideal if you’re looking for wildlife. Bears, wolves, lynx, wild cats and many more can be seen across the country but there are a few places where they are thriving. This is the case with Putna Vrancea Natural Park, a protected area of around 30.000 hectares, situated in Vrancea county. Because human access is limited in the area, you can spot a large variety of flora and fauna, including wolves, bears, lynx, chamois, wild cats, wild boars, and deer.

Very early in the morning, your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Brasov. You will be taken 100 kilometers away, to the Putna Vrancea Natural Park, a protected area that has the highest density of wild animals in Romania.After meeting the ranger, you will begin hiking on one of the few routes that are in the area. The trails are unmarked, so you pass through very wild and remote places, looking for animal tracks and marks. You will find out interesting information about the forest, and the species of trees that can be found here, and also, you will arrive at beautiful viewpoints, overlooking the valley. The trails go through uneven terrain, rocks, and fallen trees, so you must be very fit for this experience. Also, very good trekking boots are needed for your safety. You will stop from time to time and the ranger will explain the efforts behind conserving wild species of animals and sustainable tourism. The hike takes approximately 6 hours, and after getting back to the village, your guide will take you back to Brasov and drop you off at your accommodation.
