Hellesylt - Nordangdalen and the underwater village in Lygnstøyl lake.. A big landslide dammed up the valley and the village community drowned. One can still see the remains and stone fences in the crystal clear water in this very narrow valley.

Description
Pickup at ship and a short stroll / drive tru Hellesylt village.
Start excursion up the valley and we make several stops along the way at different photo ops. This is a spectacular trip based on the very narrow and steep valley and beautiful scenery. This could be a scene from the Jurassic Park movie. We spend time at the Lygnstøyl lake to observe the drowned village and the clear green water, green grass slopes, and enjoy our snack/drink break. If you want we could do a short walk in nature and enjoy the surroundings. We then continue thru the valley along the Nordang river and down to the Nordang fjord and Hotel Union Øye. ( Amazing lunch at the hotel - this is optional but highly recommended ) Need reservations. After a nice break and rest we head back towards Hellesylt again but we make a little side-track and head up to the Ljøen view point were you will be able to see in the world famous UNESCO listed Geiranger Fjord. After we head back to Hellesylt and the ship.

09:00 pick up at ship.
Drive thru the village of Hellesylt ,
observe the waterfalls and surroundings.
Head up the Nordang valley road towards the Lyngstøl vannet lake and the farms that drowned.
Snack break.
Continue to Hotel Union Øye. The historic wooden hotel from 1891 at the beginning of the Nordangfjord.
Lunch at Hotel optional ( not included and need reservations)
We drive back towards Hellesylt and make a stop at the Ljøen view point overlooking the Geiranger fjord.
back to ship.
