Description

Amadablam Peak Climbing 2024

Amadablam Expedition 6856m lies in the Everest region, Sagarmatha National Park. Latitude of 27.861111 and Longitude of 86.861111. It is second of the most considered in terms of technicality and beautiful peaks in the world. This mountain was first climbed in 1961 and successful climbers were Mike Gill, Bishop, Mike Ward, and Wally Romanes. Most of the climbers start their expedition from the south-west ridge, the summit, has three high camps at different elevations Camp I will be at 5600m | 18368ft, Camp II at 5900m | 19352ft, and the final Camp III will be at 6300m | 20664ft. The climb between all these camps is very difficult and interesting due to the composition of narrow ridge climb, vertical climb, and ice climb. Amablam summit allows panoramic views of eight-thousands including Everest 8848m, Cho Oyu 8188m, Makalu 8485m, Lhotse 8516m, Pumori 7161m, and Shishapangma 8027m.

Amadablam Base Camp is situated at 4600m altitude, it is one of the most comfortable camps compared to other peaks in Nepal. It has easy excess to water and beautiful grassland to set the tent, base camp gives a great exposure to the peak and holds the sunlight due to its position location features. Camp I is situated about 5600m, it is traveling tail with some scrambling stones for 100m and a stiff climb of 60º. No fixed ropes are required to get there, the spot for camp I am a very narrow ridge therefore one must be very careful regarding falling. Camp II 5900m is a very technical segment on the climb with massive drop-offs on both sides of the bank. Scrambling and moving along a simple excellent quality rock with a severe level stone edge, after the yellow tower for 6m we get to the elevated camp opened on all sides. Camp III at 6300m is all time fixed rope climb along the ice and snow terrain also has a segment climb with great danger of sliding and crossing the dreadful mushroom ridge at 6150m. Summit push for ascend is an intense climb of 40º+ on the Icey and snowy side. The final climb takes about 11 hours of the climb from camp III to the summit and back to Camp II.

Amadablam Expedition is one of the most challenging climbs regardless of being just below 7000m peaks. The climbing section from the yellow pinnacle to camp III is 55º slop almost all along. Participants must have strong rock and ice climbing experience. However, most routes have fixed rope, and one must be very competent with ascending, descending, real vertical fixed rope climbing skills, and passing anchors.
