Kotor-Perast

This island was built on the small sea reef on which a miraculous working painting of Our Lady was found in 1452 in a quite mysterious way. The Church was built at the same place in order to honor our Lady and house the painting, which is now a patroness of all sailors in the Adriatic. But what an undertaking it was to build an island in the middle of the sea large enough to serve as a base for the church and surrounding facilities! You just have to enter the church and its museum to hear more curiosities. Be sure to ask about special embroidery in which the author incorporated her own hair to make a haircut of Our Lady and surrounding angels!

Go back to Perast, this time to focus on the town itself and feel this 18 century place your home. Imagine what it would be like to live in such a rich town in the past and be a frequent target of the pirates, always wanting your gold and treasures that came here as a result of successful maritime history and trade.
