Indeed you cross from the highlands to the southwest of the island countless types of landscapes ranging from terraced rice fields carved on the hillsides, volcanic lakes of the spa town of Antsirabe, the Zafimaniry country and its ancestral art of wood sculpture or the meticulous work of marquetry, through the lush forest as far as the eye can see of Ranomafana, you will be seduced by the charm of the Tsaranoro valley and its imposing granite domes will follow the Isalo park and its surprising geological formations of Jurassic liking forming cliffs and canyons without missing its natural pools to finish your stay in basking on the beach of fine sand and crystal clear waters of Ifaty. From village to village, you will discover from each ethnic group their daily life, the know-how, the local gastronomy or the uses and customs. Day 1 : Arrival in Antananarivo

Day 2 : Antananarivo - Antsirabe

We go to the discovery of the mythical national 7 towards the South to reach the spa town of Antsirabe. A typical route of the Malagasy Highlands between mountain landscapes, rice terraces and traditional constructions in clay and thatched roof.

A stop in Ambatolampy will be offered to meet blacksmiths aluminum workers in a traditional way to make kitchen utensils and decorative objects.

Arrival in Antsirabe in the middle of the day and arrival at the hotel.

In the afternoon, a tour of the city and its artisans will be proposed to discover the cultural and historical heritage in rickshaw to soak up the most popular locomotion of the city. We will meet the talented craftsmen of Antsirabe: shaping zebu horns, bicycles and rickshaw in miniature, painters, embroidery, raffia, fine stone cutting

Day 3 : Antsirabe - Ranomafana

This first half-day will be dedicated to the visit of Antsirabe and its surroundings. Departure to reach the zebu market of Antsirabe (only every Saturday) to see the tumult on the market and the surprising negotiation of these emblematic beasts.

After, we leave for the volcanic lakes located a few tens of kilometers west of Antsirabe. Arrival at the first lake, Andraikiba, a relaxing place very popular with the locals for ballads in canoe or pedal boat. We continue towards the second lake, the mysterious crater of the volcanic lake of Tritriva, known for its legend reincarnating the Romeo and Juliet of the times of the Malagasy royalty, two lovers committed suicide following family reprisals to reincarnate in two intertwined trees.

After the visit, we leave to reach Ranomafana, small village Antanala nestled on the edge of the green forest part of the forest corridor of eastern Madagascar.

Passing by Ambositra, we visit the sculpture and marquetry workshops to discover each step of this meticulous work

In the early evening, a night tour will be offered to discover the nightlife around the park among other night lemurs or chameleons. (optional walk)

Day 4 : Ranomafana - Tsaranoro

Part of the Malagasy Eastern Forest Corridor, a World Natural Heritage Site since 2007, a visit to the Ranomafana National Park is a must. Indeed, the park has an exceptional biodiversity and unique in the world on both fauna and flora. 12 species of lemurs, 7 species of carnivorous mammals, 58 species of reptiles and 98 species of amphibians, 254 species of birds, not to mention rodents, insects, butterflies, fish… find refuge in this dense humid forest of 41,601 ha of area.

Then we leave for the valley of Tsaranoro, we cross the country Betsileo through Fianarantsoa and Ambalavao. At the entrance of the town of Fianarantsoa, we visit the world-famous photographer’s studio Pierrot Men.

Continuing to Ambalavao, charming town with its wooden balustraded houses in English style; we will find the only vineyards on the island. Visit of a silkworm weaving workshop and antemoro paper craft workshop then we continue our journey.

Day 5 : Tsaranoro Valley

A gentle awakening under the caresses of the first rays of sunshine of the day in this charming town and during which maki catta, these lemurs that populate this region will come to restore fruits growing a few meters from your homes.

The landscape of the Tsaranoro Valley is distinguished by the imposing and majestic granite domes composed mainly of Mount Chameleon and the cliff of Tsaranoro to which the valley owes its name. Today, we begin the climb of Chameleon peak with a summit of 1540m altitude. We have about 6h walk, we admire the panoramic view that the top offers to us with the cliff of Tsaranoro, the valley and the mountain range of the Andringitra.

Day 6 : Tsaranoro - Ranohira

After breakfast, we admire the sunrise over the Tsaranoro valley before heading back to Ranohira. Along the route, we admire the landscape of southern Madagascar that opens its doors; we cross the vast plateau of Ihorombe and the large plains covered with grassy steppes.

We enter the country Bara who are zebu breeders; it would not be uncommon to cross herds of zebu along the road.

Arrival in Ranohira in the afternoon and accommodation at the hotel.

In the late afternoon, we go to watch the sunset through the window of the Isalo, an exceptional spectacle worthy of postcards.

Day 7 : Isalo national Park

Hiking day in the Isalo National Park, Unique in its kind, spread over its 81.540 Ha of area, this park stands out for its geomorphological formation, ruiniform massifs of yellow continental liking dating from the Jurassic that erosion notched, thus forming canyons, caves, cliffs and reliefs with unusual shapes which took him the nickname «Colorado Malagasy».

Apart from the exceptional landscapes and panoramic views of the park, the discovery of a surprising biodiversity of semi-desert environments.

You will have the opportunity to refresh yourself with a good swim during our visit on the black and blue natural pools or at the waterfall of the nymphs which are real oasis.

Day 8 : Ranohira - Ifaty

We leave Ranohira to reach the city of the sun, the last city on the RN7, the famous city of the sun on the banks of the Mozambique Canal criss-crossed by the tropic of Capricorn. We pass by the Sapphire City of Ilakaka where jewelers, shops and stonemasons line the road. Along the way, we can see between Sakaraha and Tulear the tombs adorned Aloalo, heads of zebu or images that summarize the life, or the dreams of the deceased testify to the particular features of these ethnic groups of South Madagascar.

At the entrance of the city, a visit of the arboretum of Antsokay will be proposed to you to know a little more about this exceptional fauna and flora typical of the Southwest of the island.

Arriving in Tulear in the middle of the day and lunch, the afternoon we continue to Ifaty and you’ll have time to explore the surroundings of the village.
