The Essentials of Madagascar

Day 1: Airport – Tana

Welcome and picked up at the airport then transfer and installation at the hotel.

Day 2: Tana – Andasibe

Pick-up by your guide in the morning then departure heading to Andasibe village near the national park for about three and a half hours by car on the national road2, visit a small private park in Pereyras, then check-in at the hotel, nocturnal visit. Night at the hotel.

Day 3: Andasibe – Mantadia National Park

Morning dedicated to visiting Andasibe – Mantadia National Park & Analamazaotra forest, two

hour and a half walk in the forest to observe the largest lemur Babakoto or Indri indri and other species of endemic animals and plants, continuation of the visit to vakôna park (Island of lemurs, birds and crocodiles). Free afternoon. Night at the same hotel.

Day 4: Andasibe – Antsirabe

Start in the morning heading to Antsirabe after leaving the national 2 you are on the RN7 different landscape.

Antsirabe is known above all for its rickshaws, its small artisans, the factory which

produces national beer, its markets, thermal baths, etc. Night at the hotel.

Day 5: Antsirabe – Ambositra – Ranomafana

A short passage to the volcanic lake of Tritriva in the morning, magnificent landscapes,

superb valleys, villages and hills then continuation of the road until Ambositra city around two hours drive after having fully enjoyed from Antsirabe city.

Visit the precious wood craft workshops, then head still on the national 7, in direction Ranomafana, the village near the national park for around four hours drive, a village located on the slopes of a mountain green with forests. Visit from the surroundings of the small village. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 6: Ranomafana National Park

Half-day hiking in Ranomafana National Park

(Observation of lemurs, chameleon, several endemic plants, etc.).

In the afternoon, visit to the Ranomafana thermal baths, the baths close at 4:30 p.m. and the swimming pool at 5 p.m.

The waters are renowned for rheumatism, tension and even sterility! Swimming possible. Night at the same hotel.

Day 7: Ranomafana – Ambalavao – Ranohira

Departure in the morning, orientation tour of the old city of Fianarantsoa, from the viewpoint, then continuation to Ambalavao, this small town renowned for the manufacture of the famous Antemoro paper and especially its large Zebu Market the second to Madagascar which is held every Wednesday and thursday.

A short visit to the village park of Anjà to observe the famous Maki or ring-tailed lemurs, a short climb to the viewpoint and enjoy the landscape it offers then continuation of the road heading to Ranohira, a small village of the Bara ethnic group near the Isalo Massif.

At the end of the day, a quick hop to Isalo window to admire the sunset. Night at the hotel

Day 8: Isalo National Park

The Isalo National Park offers numerous hikes through landscapes

magnificent and grandiose ruins, exceptional nature, with surprising and varied fauna and flora.

Site to visit (natural swimming pool, ridges, black swimming pool and blue, Namaza canyon, nymph waterfall). Walks through the canyons and ridges of the Park, hiking, swimming in natural pools. Night at same hotel

Day 9: Ranohira – Tuléar – Ifaty

Departure for Tuléar, the city of the sun. On the road you admire the typical tombs of the Mahafaly. Lunch in Tuléar then departure for around 30 minutes of good road to reach the village of Ifaty with its beautiful lagoons. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Ifaty

Relaxation, relaxation and idleness on the beautiful beach of Ifaty.

Possible activities: Whale Safari (Scheduled from July until mid-November on Ifaty), diving and snorkelling, traditional canoe trip, visit to the Reniala Baobabs reserve, ect… Night at the same hotel.

Day 11: Ifaty – Tuléar – Tana

Transfer to the airport then flight to Tana by the flight which connects Tuléar to Tana. Overnight at the hotel

Day 12: Tana - Airport

Visit and short tour of the capital, purchase of souvenirs then transfer to the airport according to the schedule of your flight back.
