Kyoto/Osaka: Amanohashidate and Ine Funaya and Ine Bay Day TripEnjoy a relaxing day trip from Kyoto or Osaka to Amanohashidate, one of Japan’s top scenic views, and explore the traditional Funaya boathouses lining the peaceful waters of Ine Bay.
Highlights
Description
Escape the city and discover the scenic beauty of northern Kyoto on this full-day trip to Amanohashidate and Ine, two of Japan’s most picturesque coastal destinations.
Your journey begins with a comfortable departure from Kyoto or Osaka, traveling through peaceful countryside landscapes toward the Sea of Japan. The first stop is Amanohashidate, one of Japan’s famous “Three Scenic Views,” renowned for its long pine-covered sandbar stretching across Miyazu Bay. Enjoy free time to stroll along the beach, take photos, or view the sandbar from a scenic lookout (optional cable car or chairlift available on site).
Afterwards, continue to the charming fishing village of Ine, home to the unique Funaya boathouses built directly along the water’s edge. These traditional wooden houses, with boats stored on the ground floor and living spaces above, create one of Japan’s most distinctive coastal townscapes. You will have time to explore the village, walk along the waterfront, and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere of Ine Bay.
An optional Ine Bay sightseeing boat cruise is available for those who wish to experience the village from the water, offering beautiful views of the Funaya and surrounding coastline.
This day trip is ideal for travelers seeking natural scenery, traditional village life, and a slower pace away from crowded tourist areas. Return to Kyoto or Osaka in the evening after a relaxing and memorable day.
