Carrara Marble Quarry Tour with Food Tasting
We will spend the first part of the tour in the Carrara mountains, taking a few stops in front of different marble quarries, where you’ll learn everything about the history and methods of the excavation processes and understand how the experts transform a rock into a beautiful artwork or piece of furniture, later we will visit the nearby Colonnata, home of the quarry men for over 2000 years, where you'll have the chance to taste the unique lardo, a special type of cold cut aged in a marble basin.

The first stop will be the entrance of the marble quarries explaining the current excavation processes and economy related to the marble production. You'll also be able to touch with your own hands a marble block and learn how to distinguish a good piece from a bad one.
The second stop will be inside the quarry museum, learning how men started to excavate this precious material over 2000 years ago and how the technology has evolved over the course of 2 centuries.
The third and final stop will be the small village of Colonnata tasting a local unique food know as "Lardo", the meal of the quarry men.
