Samaria gorge Hiking Tour with Group

You can get to entrance of Samaria gorge either by rental car or by the public bus from Chania Public Bus Station.

You will meet your guide just by the entrance of the Samaria Gorge and after a short briefing to the group you will start your hike into the gorge with the guidance of a very experienced guide.

Just a few meters after passing the entrance of the Samaria Gorge is enough to have the feeling of entering a pure natural world.

16 km (10 miles) of downhill rocky trail full of natural beauty, stunning rock formations and centuries of history will smoothly end up in the South Cretan Sea offering a refreshing dip in the crystal clear waters!

At the end of the gorge there is only one small village (the village of Agia Roumeli). Here you can find restaurants and taverns for dining and a beautiful beach with all the facilities (sunbeds, showers, changing rooms, etc.)

The village of Agia Roumeli has no road network. The only way to get back to the starting point or to Chania is to take the ferry from there to the nearest port and then take a public bus to the entrance of the gorge or to Chania. The only ferry departs at 17:30 each day and your guide will help you issue the ferry tickets and will give you all the info about the public bus you need to get after the ferry, to return to the starting point to get your car or to get to Chania Public Bus Station. After the hike everybody travels back independetly.

This is a great full day group tour from the high mountains to the sea, in the very famous Samaria Gorge, including 5-6 hours of hiking (depending on your hiking pace) on a downhill rocky trail, time for swimming, lunch , walking around the village of Agia Roumeli and a beautiful return trip by ferry!
