Cycling to Materuni Waterfalls and Coffee Experience
This excellent cycle tour takes in the incredible sets of waterfalls that surround the lower slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Spend a day visiting the Materuni waterfalls. Cool off in the water after an exciting ride and then enjoy the downhill trip back to base. Combine this with a coffee tour for a great day out!
We first pass through the city of Moshi and its vibrant streets that will lead us to dirt road that will take us on a cultural experience with the most famous Mt. Kilimanjaro’s inhabitants, Chagga people. We will see their everyday life; farming, preparing food outside and kids going to school, as well as experience their great sense of hospitality. Lush coffee, banana and corn plantations will surround us on the way and a coffee making process tour can be included on the trip. The steep and rough road will take us to Materuni village where we will have a chance to eat local food and rest. After that, a 1 kilometer walk to Materuni waterfalls, the water is perfectly refreshing for swimming and enjoy your day. The ride back will be downhill so hold tight to ride while enjoying the beautiful view of Mt. Kilimanjaro!

A tour to Materuni Village and Waterfalls is a great way to spend a day away from the bustle of town life. Our cycling trip to Materuni Waterfall offers a glimpse into the nature of Tanzania allowing you either to prepare your body for the forthcoming climb to Kilimanjaro as Acclimatization trip or after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro or Safari.
The tour starts from the bottom of the Mount Kilimanjaro 880mm above the sea level, Biking heading up to the Materuni village via village trails of about 18 km one way passing banana, local coffee farms,
With a hike to Materuni Waterfall. It is an opportunity to see how local fruits like avocados, Passion fruits, lemons, and bananas grow, as well as learn some of the local history, traditions, village economy, agricultural and cultural life. Possible to see different types of Chameleons on this trip. When you get to the waterfall, you can refresh yourself in the natural pool.
The tour will continue with a visit to the local village lying in the coffee plantations. The villagers will demonstrate the process of coffee farming and guide you through the preparation of coffee from a Bean to a cup. Sing and dance along with the Chagga people as they are grinding, roasting, and boiling the beans. When the coffee is ready, you will have your hot lunch and start biking back to Moshi you can chose to be transfered to your hotel.
