Private Day Trip to the Ananuri-Kazbegi Mountains

Kazbegi and its surroundings are one of the must-see places in Georgia.

On our tour to Ananuri-Gudauri ski resort, you will have an exciting drive, heading north along the Georgian Military Highway into the high Caucasus Mountains. This is the main road running for 220 km from Tbilisi to Vladikavkaz in Russia, a spectacular highway that winds its way through sheer mountains. This route actually dates back to the 1st century BC and is still important as the only link connecting to Russia through the Caucasus Mountains.

Kazbegi attracts many tourists with its beautiful, diverse nature and important cultural monuments. During this day trip gives you the opportunity to visit historic destinations, to enjoy some spectacular panoramic landscapes of the region.

Jinvali Water Dam and Ananuri Fortress - the first sight to visit on the road is Jinvali water reservoir, which is a hydroelectric dam on the Aragvi River in Zhinvali. You stop along the way to snap photos of the wonderful scenery of blue-colored water and panoramic views.

Then you explore the Ananuri complex, which is close to Jinvali water. The Fortress was built by the Dukes of Aragvi and its earliest parts date from the 13th century. The fortress is on the UNESCO Tentative list.

Gudauri ski resort, located on the south-facing plateau of the Greater Caucasus Mountain Range in Georgia, 2 200 m above the sea level. In winter, the Gudauri resort offers high-quality skiing opportunities and is certainly one of the best places for extreme sports lovers.

Our next stop is the Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk - built-in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and the ongoing friendship between Georgia and Soviet Russia.

Gergeti Trinity church stands at an elevation of 2170 meters, under Mount Kazbegi (5047m), overlooking the breath-taking scenery of Stepantsminda and is a world heritage site of UNESCO. Gergeti was built in the 14th century and is situated on the right bank of the river Chkheri.

From the monastery you can enjoy the view of impressive Mount Kazbek, it is distinguished for its wonderful nature.
