Sofia Small Group City Tour

First, we will start with the most famous landmark in Sofia– the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. Then, we will continue to the medieval symbol of the town – Saint Sofia Basilica church. After that, we continue in the city center, by covering all of the other major sites: Saint George Rotunda, the old Parliament, the Sinod, the Library, the monument of king Liberator, the old Royal residence, the National theater, the Largo complex, the presidency, the Roman Remains, the old Baths, the judicial palace, as well as some hidden and less know places and monuments!

During the tour you will learn about the rich history of the town and its famous sites, as well as interesting facts such as: why Alexander Nevsky Cathedral was built, why the town was associated with the famous Roman emperor Constantine the Great, who and why invented the Cyrillic alphabet, where was situated the mausoleum of the first Bulgarian communist dictator, and many more.

You will be shown the hidden local ‘martenista’ and learn about its meaning. Also, the guide will present you photos of some the places, to see how they looked about 100 years ago, as well as several photos from the communist period! Last, but not least – you are always welcome to ask questions and the guide will be more than happy to answer!
