What's included
Itinerary
Arrival in Maun
Your safari adventure begins in the frontier town of Maun, the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Upon arrival at Maun International Airport, a Bush Rover Safaris representative will meet and give you a briefing about your safari. The representative will then transfer you to your lodge for a restful night at your own expense. If time allows, you may enjoy an optional cultural tour of Maun, camel ride or a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta. Dinner will be served at the lodge as you prepare for the incredible days to come.
Days 1-3: Central Kalahari Game Reserve
After breakfast, you will set off for the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, a vast and remote wilderness teeming with unique desert-adapted wildlife. The drive takes approximately five hours and transitions from Maun’s edges into the arid beauty of the Kalahari. Over the next three nights, you will stay at an exclusive mobile bush camp in the heart of the reserve. Daily game drives will take you through Deception Valley, Passarge Valley, and Sunday Pan, offering opportunities to see cheetahs, springboks, oryx, black-maned lions, and elusive brown hyenas.
A highlight of your time here is the guided walk with San Bushmen, who will share their ancient knowledge of the land, including traditional hunting techniques, edible plants, and survival strategies in one of Africa’s harshest environments. Evenings will be spent around the campfire beneath the breathtaking Kalahari night sky.
Day 4: Return to Maun
Today, you’ll return to Maun for a night of rest and replenishment. After the long drive back, you’ll check into a comfortable lodge where you can refresh with a hot shower and enjoy modern amenities. For those interested, there is an option to take a scenic flight over the Okavango Delta in the late afternoon—a magical experience offering an aerial view of the world’s largest inland delta. The evening will be at leisure, with dinner served at your lodge.
Days 5–7: Moremi Game Reserve
Following breakfast, you’ll begin your journey into the Moremi Game Reserve, located on the eastern fringes of the Okavango Delta. Known for its exceptional biodiversity and rich ecosystem, Moremi is a haven for big game and birdlife. For three nights, you’ll camp in pristine bush settings with access to Xakanaxa, Third Bridge, and Xini regions. Game drives here often yield sightings of lions, leopards, elephants, red lechwe, and wild dogs. The lush wetlands, open plains, and mopane woodlands create stunning backdrops for each safari excursion. Evenings are spent dining under the stars, sharing stories by the fire, and listening to the chorus of the African night.
Days 8–10: Khwai Community Area
Next, you’ll move north to the Khwai Community Concession, a wildlife-rich area bordering Moremi. This section of the safari brings unique activities only permitted in community-managed lands. In addition to classic game drives, you’ll enjoy a tranquil mokoro (dugout canoe) excursion through the winding waterways of the Khwai River, led by expert polers. This serene journey offers close encounters with water lilies, frogs, kingfishers, and possibly elephants wading in the shallows. You’ll also have the chance to experience a night drive—perfect for spotting nocturnal creatures such as genets, servals, and owls. Your private mobile camp will be set in a scenic location along the river, enhancing your immersion in the wilderness.
Days 11–13: Savuti
From Khwai, the safari continues to Savuti, one of the most dramatic regions within Chobe National Park. The drive to Savuti is a full-day game-viewing journey through the wildlife corridor, and you’ll arrive at your campsite in time to settle in and relax. Over the next three days, you will explore the Savuti Marsh and surrounding woodlands, famed for its predator activity. Expect to encounter large prides of lions, hyenas, and if lucky, the elusive leopard or African wild dog. The region’s iconic baobab trees and ancient San rock paintings add to the mystique of this rugged landscape. Sunsets here are unforgettable, often accompanied by the distant roar of lions echoing through the valley.
Days 14–15: Chobe Riverfront
Your safari adventure nears its finale with two days at the famous Chobe Riverfront, a wildlife haven known for hosting Africa’s largest elephant population. After departing Savuti, you will journey north through the Chobe National Park to reach your lodge or camp near the Chobe River. Upon arrival on Day 14, settle into your accommodation and enjoy an afternoon game drive along the river, where sightings of elephants, buffalo, sable antelope, and predators such as lions and leopards are common. The landscape of riverine forest and floodplains makes for stunning photographic opportunities.
On Day 15, a highlight awaits: a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River. This tranquil yet thrilling experience allows for up-close encounters with pods of hippos, crocodiles sunning themselves on the banks, herds of elephants crossing the river, and an array of water birds including kingfishers, African fish eagles, and herons. The gentle flow of the river and the golden hues of sunset create a fitting scene for reflection on your remarkable journey through Botswana’s wilderness.
Day 16: Kasane & Optional Victoria Falls Day Trip (Zambia Side)
On your final day, you will be based in Kasane, a charming town on the edge of Chobe National Park and a gateway to several countries. After breakfast, you can either enjoy a relaxed morning in Kasane or take an optional day trip to Victoria Falls on the Zambian side.
