Central Bosnia Discovery Tour: Ahmići, Travnik, Jajce Waterfall & Mlinčići

This full-day tour offers a meaningful journey through Central Bosnia, combining important historical sites, charming towns, and breathtaking natural scenery. The tour begins in the morning with departure from Sarajevo and a comfortable drive through green valleys and mountain landscapes toward the heart of the country.

Our first destination is Ahmići, a small village that holds great historical importance. Visitors will have time to visit the memorial area and learn about the events that left a lasting mark on the region. This stop provides an opportunity for reflection and understanding, offering insight into Bosnia and Herzegovina’s recent past and the importance of remembrance and peace.

After Ahmići, the journey continues to Travnik, once the capital of Bosnia during Ottoman rule. Surrounded by mountains and rivers, Travnik is a town rich in history and cultural heritage. Guests will visit the Travnik Fortress, where panoramic views of the town and surrounding countryside create excellent photo opportunities. Free time is provided to explore the old town, walk through its narrow streets, visit the beautifully decorated Colorful Mosque, or relax in a local café while enjoying traditional Bosnian coffee or food. Travnik is also known as the birthplace of Nobel Prize–winning writer Ivo Andrić, adding literary significance to the visit.

In the afternoon, we continue toward Jajce, one of the most impressive historic towns in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The highlight of this stop is the magnificent Jajce Waterfall, where the Pliva River dramatically cascades into the Vrbas River in the very center of town. Guests will have time to admire the waterfall, take photos, and explore the medieval old town. Optional visits include the Jajce Fortress, from which beautiful views of the surrounding landscape can be enjoyed, as well as other historical landmarks connected to Bosnia’s royal and cultural past.

The final stop of the day is Mlinčići, located near the crystal-clear Pliva Lakes. This peaceful area is famous for its traditional wooden watermills, which have been preserved as a cultural monument. Surrounded by flowing water, greenery, and a calm natural setting, Mlinčići offers a relaxing atmosphere where guests can enjoy a gentle walk, connect with nature, and capture memorable photographs. It is the perfect way to end a full day of exploration.

As the tour comes to an end, we begin the return journey, traveling back through scenic landscapes. Arrival is in the evening, with guests being dropped off at the same location where they were picked up.
