Dong Khoi Street offers you the opportunity to see French architecture. Explore the sky rise modern buildings, international merchandise stores, and comfortable restaurants. Even though the history of Dong Khoi is rich but it has gone through many changes over the years. At times, it remained the center of French colonization. People used to call it Rue Catinat.
As of today, Dong Khoi Street has become the center of Ho Chi Minh City’s commercial activity. Tourists also come in a large number to this area. As far as the attractions in the street are concerned, there are many places ranging from historic buildings to monuments and hotels. For instance, one can pay a visit to Notre Dame Cathedral. Red-brick walls of the cathedral and new Romanesque architecture but it is amazingly beautiful when compared to the local new architecture. As you will step into the cathedral, good photographs can be taken at length of the interior of the cathedral.
Then visit the People’s Committee building is another finest example of French architecture in the main Ho Chi Minh City. One can easily find it on the corner of Nguyen Hue Street and Dong Khoi Street. It was originally named hotel De Ville. The design of the building is unique and was designed by the famous French architect Gardens.
Saigon Opera house is another good place to explore at Dong Khoi Street. Mix features of Vietnam and French culture are on display in the house. Walk for a few meters from the opera house and you will reach the continental hotel. It was constructed in 1880 by the colonial masters. Khoi street connects the Saigon River with the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Better to book an urban city tour and explore the whole street and surrounding places in one day tour. Do some shopping from the street as it is famous for it. It is safe to travel and live in the hotels alongside the Dong Khoi Street.
