Con Phung Island

Con Phung Island is in the main Ben Tre Province, located across the Mekong River. One can reach by boat in just 30 minutes from My Tho. Con Phung Island offers the holy land of Coconut Congregation to most of the visitors.

People are living a very nomadic and simple life in the Mekong Delta Region. Island is also called the Dao Dua, associated with a monk who used to live and meditate on the Island for almost three years. During his stay at the Island, the monk ate nothing but the Coconut. He was a believer in the reunification of Vietnam, so he secretly founded his own sect and preached it. The sect that he found was a mix of Buddhism and Christianity. Locals called it the Coconut religion. Monk with the help of locals built a 1500 square meter complex which is still intact at this place and visited by the locals across the year.

The majority of the villagers earn their living by making furniture with the material extracted from the Coconut trees. Locals are associated with the coconut business. Handmade products are sold by the locals including jewelry, baskets, and spoons. One can sit in a local house and see the locals preparing different kinds of things. There are many kinds of fruits grown in the area by the locals which include grapefruit, mango, saboche, orange and jackfruit. Visitors can sample the coconut as much as they like and could drink the tea prepared from longan flower and honey bees. Moreover, they can visit the crocodile garden and even sit for some time in the shady garden.

The best of the Con Phung Island that attracts most of the visitors is a cool space full of fruit trees which include mango, plum, cherry, and jackfruit. One can also pay a visit to the local candy company to learn about things such as rolling, cutting, canning, and wrapping. Another interesting place that tourists must visit is Con Phung. This architecture was built in the twentieth century and is still intact.

Last but not the least, some other activities that one can do are fishing, exploring the culinary village and southern house. It is entirely up to you that if you want to catch a bus or hire a motorbike from Chi Minh City to reach the My Tho to get to Con Phung Island.
