The best way to reach the Back Beach in Vung Tau is by ferry from HCMC. Basically, there are two beaches at the Vung Tau, Back Beach in Vung Tau and Front Beach. Vung Tau remained full of visitors at the weekends. Its nearness to the Ho Chi Minh City makes it perfect for the visitors. Beach starving locals come to it all year.
Back Beach in Vung Tau is the major point of attraction for many and visitors come to swim in the ocean at this beach. While swimming at the beach, one needs to be cautious about the currents. Beach clubs are also available. Back beach is loved by the tourists due to its 10 Km of the fine sand seaside. World-class resorts, hotels and the relaxing areas in the Bai Sau welcomes thousands of visitors every day. Back beach is much better-taken care than the front beach. Visitors feel more convenient at this place.
Local vendors, beach clubs, and small goods sellers offer any kind of services that anybody can avail of. French called this beach during their times as La Plage de Derriere. However, nowadays, Vietnamese call it the Bai Sau which means rear, bottom or backside. History suggests that half of the Vung Tau Island was black. Back Beach in Vung Tau confronts the beautiful Eastern Sea. However, its southern side of 3-4 kilometers is more in use. The southernmost place is called The Point. Hon Ba (women) Island is just a few meters distance from The Point.
One can walk to the Hon Ba Island and as per some records it is considered the luckiest shrine in Vung Tau. Beach never seems to be overcrowded even during the annual International Kite Festival. During the event, a great rush of people is observed walking from one place to another. Fishing is also being done at the beach but now the intensity of fishing is quite low.
